Judt, Tony

Ο Tony Judt γεννήθηκε στο Λονδίνο το 1948. Σπούδασε στο King’s College του Καίμπριτζ και στην Ecole Normale Superieure του Παρισιού. Δίδαξε στα πανεπιστήμια του Καί- μπριτζ, της Οξφόρδης, του Μπέρκλεϋ και της Νέας Υόρκης· στο τελευταίο ίδρυσε και διηύθυνε το Ινστιτούτο Ρεμάρκ για τη μελέτη της Ευρώπης. Έγραφε συχνά για τα έντυπα New York Review of Books, London Review of Books, New York Times, New Republic κ.ά. Το 2007 του απονεμήθηκε το Βραβείο Χάνα Άρεντ και το 2009 το Βραβείο Όργουελ για τησυνολική προσφορά του. Πέθανε τον Αύγουστο του 2010.
